For the third time, an elderly woman aged 80 steals from an American bank

An elderly woman faces new bank robbery charges after being convicted twice of the same crime.

The Kansas City Star reported that Bonnie Gooch was jailed on $25,000 bail after being charged Wednesday with theft or attempted theft from a financial institution.

The authorities claimed that the 78-year-old woman handed a note to the bank’s teller that “I didn’t mean to scare you” during the recent robbery in the US state of Missouri.

Cass County court documents filed in the latter case said the message the woman had and gave to the employee was: “…it’s a robbery I need 13,000 small coins…thank you sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.”

Cass County prosecutors said surveillance cameras filmed her banging on the counter and asking the cashier to quickly give her cash.

Prosecutors added that she smelled strongly of alcohol when officers stopped her less than 2 miles (3.2 km) away, with cash strewn across the floorboard.

Witnesses said the suspect was dressed all in gray with plastic gloves, a black N95 mask and black sunglasses, according to the newspaper.

After getting the money, the police were later able to locate the suspect, before the officers managed to locate Gooch and stopped her car.

Gooch was convicted twice of robbing banks, the first in California in 1977, while the second in Kansas City in 2020, according to the Associated Press.
