For the sake of Research, Germany Deliberately Holds Indoor Concerts During the Corona Pandemic

Jakarta

Scientists in Germany have held three concerts at the moment Corona pandemic in progress. About 1,500 healthy volunteers aged 18-50 years took part in this study.

The so-called concert study Restart-19 conducted to investigate the conditions whether indoor or indoor events can be held during the Corona pandemic.

Quoted from BBC, the first of three concerts simulating an event before the pandemic, ie without distancing measures. The second concert involved better hygiene such as social distancing. The third session involved only half the audience and each person was given a distance of 1.5 meters.

Previous concert attendees or goers have been tested COVID-19 and given a face mask and a distance measuring device. Researchers also reportedly used fluorescent fluids to see which surfaces onlookers touched the most.

“The data collection is going very well so we have good quality data, the atmosphere is good and we are very pleased with the discipline of wearing masks,” said lead researcher Dr Stefan Moritz of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

The concert featured German pop singer Tim Bendzko. In his speech, Bendzko said that the event exceeded his expectations.

“We really enjoyed it. At first I thought it would be very sterile because of the masks, but it turned out to be fun. I hope this result will help us hold a concert in front of the audience soon,” said Bendzko.

The study received around 990,000 euros, or about Rp. 17 billion in funding from the state of Saxony-Anhalt with the aim of helping pave the way for the resumption of major indoor sports and music events by ensuring a realistic level of risk.

“The Corona pandemic is crippling the events industry. As long as there is a risk of infection, major concerts, trade shows and sporting events cannot be held. This is why it is so important to know which technical conditions can effectively minimize the risk,” said Saxony-Anhalt’s Minister of Economy and Science. , Prof. Armin Willingmann.
