The longest season in the history of the English Premier League comes to an end on Sunday (5:00 p.m.) after 353 days – and that with a thriller: Liverpool FC (96 points) have long been champions and Manchester City (78) the dethroned vice . Manchester United (63), Chelsea (63) and Leicester City (62) only separated one point before the last round. Leicester, the club of ex-ÖFB captain Christian Fuchs, who is currently injured, welcomes ManUnited to a direct duel on Sunday, with a draw for the Manchester guests to take part in the European football premier class.
The same applies to Chelsea FC, who are playing at home at Stamford Bridge against sixth-placed Wolverhampton. Leicester, on the other hand, would only need a tie if the Wolves won in London. Because in this case the tie difference against the “Blues” from Chelsea and the “Foxes” from Leicester would speak in the event of a tie.
The relegation battle also promises high tension, as only Norwich is certain as a relegated relegation. Aston Villa (goal difference: –26) and Watford (–27) both hold at 34 points. Bournemouth (–27) is three points behind in the penultimate position and is therefore under pressure to win. Aston Villa must go to Tables-15. West Ham, Watford to London for the Tenth Arsenal and Bournemouth to Liverpool for the Eleventh Everton.
