Football Club Mourns Loss of ‘Club Boy’ Aron van Kasteren After Fatal Accident

33-year-old Aron van Kasteren from Schijndel died on Sunday evening after he drove into a stationary trailer. The news has hit ‘his’ football club RKSV Schijndel hard. “He was a real club boy,” says board member Frank Kreemer. “This message is very unreal.”

Aron drove his van in the outskirts of Schijndel on Sunday evening. An unlit trailer was parked on the street at the Van Swaay timber trade at that time. With the left side of the van, Aron collided with that trailer. The massively called emergency services could no longer do anything for him.

Father is a cafeteria manager
“At the moment it is not yet possible to express in words and feelings and it is very unreal that Aron van Kasteren died last night,” the football club writes. “It is a dramatic message. It has hit the entire association very hard,” says Kreemer. “Aaron was a member of the club from the age of seven and organized a lot here.”

For example, he helped set up the gnome football, for children aged four, and women’s football at the Schijndelse club. “And he had his own goalkeeper school here at the association. Aron was very involved with the club.” And his father, Jan van Kasteren, is also an important volunteer at the club. He is a canteen manager. “It was Jan’s birthday yesterday.”

No party night
“This is a very big loss for his family, but certainly also for us,” said Kreemer. The club has canceled all training sessions for Monday. “We are organizing a meeting tonight in the canteen for everyone who is looking for comfort, wants to have a chat or wants to be quiet for a while.” Furthermore, all activities of the Supporters Association have been cancelled. For example, watching on Tuesday and the party night on Saturday will not take place.
