Following Moderna, Pfizer Vaccine Will Soon Get Permit in RI

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – BPOM said a number of vaccines were in the process of obtaining emergency use permits or Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). One of them is Pfizer, which is still in the process of finalizing the EUA permit.

Head of the POM Agency, Penny Lukito, said that this process took quite a long time compared to Moderna which had received EUA some time ago. Pfizer has several production facilities but only 2 facilities have complete data and are ready to receive EUA in the near future.

“Of the 5 facilities 2 that have complete data, Pfizer will get EUA in the near future,” said Penny at the Commission IX Working Meeting of the DPR RI, Tuesday (13/7/2021).

Like Pfizer, Penny also said the Sputnik vaccine is also in the process of being finalized to get the EUA. Had to carry out inspections for its production facilities and he admitted there was no vaccine experience from Russia.

According to him, Sputnik should carry out a wider inspection scope. “In the process of finalizing some inspection coverage data. Hopefully Sputnik gets the EUA,” said Penny.

Meanwhile for Novavax it’s already in the works rolling subsmission and requires a comparability test, is expected next September.

There is also Cansino and has obtained data on efficacy, safety and quality. However, it still needs more data and it is said that it does not know when it will get its emergency use permit.

Finally, Covaxin from Bharat Biotech India who has also done the rolling submission. But like Cansino still need more data.

“Bharat biotech India’s Covaxin with Amarox has been rolling submission data is still needed,” he said.

So far, there are a number of vaccines that have a permit for use from BPOM, namely Sinovac CoronaVac, AstraZeneca, Bio Farma, Sinopharm and Moderna.
