The first manned space flight by the private company SpaceX is scheduled to launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to take two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station (ERA), after being initially scheduled for Wednesday and having been delayed due to bad weather.
The flight of the Dragon space capsule, considered historic, will be the first to leave the United States since 2011, the year that marked the end of the Space Shuttle missions.
Astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley, who have been quarantined due to the covid-19 for two weeks, will fly aboard the new capsule designed by SpaceX, a ‘start-up’ founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, creator of electric cars from Tesla.
The aim is that NASA, the American space agency, can send its astronauts to the International Space Station on commercial flights from the United States and not from Russia, as it has been since 2011.
