Fnac-Darty organizes Optimist Days… while waiting for French Days

Confinement obliges, Fnac-Darty had to rethink the French Days, the big spring commercial meeting launched by e-commerce sites in April 2018. This one will take place, but it was delayed while waiting for days best.

Remember … In April 2018, several e-merchants launched the French Days, a response made in France at Black Friday. Six sites (Fnac-Darty, Cdiscount, Showroomprive.com, Boulanger and La Redoute) were then initiating this new bi-annual commercial meeting, since an autumn variation also made its appearance from the following September.

The idea was simple: offer promotions on different product lines and give customers the opportunity to do business, a bit like Black Friday, a major trade event from the United States and immediately following Thanksgiving.

But that was the world before. Meanwhile, the coronavirus pandemic has hit all five continents and changed the game. Difficult to launch such an event when the French population lives confined to their home, with many a period of partial unemployment. The major French e-commerce brands therefore had to reschedule their flagship operation at a later date, “When commercial activity resumes normally, in order to allow physical trade to benefit fully from the dynamics of the movement”, it said in a statement.

But it is also difficult to do without such a business meeting. This is why Fnac-Darty has decided to launch Optimist Days, which start on Wednesday April 29 at 10 a.m. and end on Monday May 4 – dates initially planned for the French Days. The principle is the same here, namely a selection of products at barred prices, but much less ambitious … Asked at the start of confinement, Olivier Garcia, the group’s product director, declared to the Digital “Have put an end to all the planned commercial operations”, while ensuring wanting “Work on a web animation”.

The calendar of Optimistic Days may however seem ambitious. Fnac-Darty draws before the deconfinement planned gradually from Monday, May 11, while deliveries (if they are insured) remain idle and limited to purchases qualified as essential. FYI, the Versailles Court of Appeal confirmed Friday, April 24 the need for a risk assessment of Covid-19 within Amazon France, but has expanded the list of products that the merchant site can continue to deliver (high-tech products, IT, office, animals, health and body care, man, nutrition, drugstore, grocery, drinks and maintenance).

The team of Digital will be mobilized to select the best offers of these Optimistic Days. Come on Wednesday April 29 from 10am on our site to discover the real good plans.
