Director of Communicable Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi said, currently, Covid-19 cases have decreased along with the increasing coverage of Covid-19 vaccinations.
However, the public still has to be disciplined in carrying out health protocols and vaccinating according to the doctor’s schedule and recommendations to protect themselves from dangerous infectious diseases such as influenza.
“Flu vaccination It is important to prevent coinfection with Covid-19 virus infection which can lead to serious complications. In addition, the flu vaccine and Covid-19 vaccine can be tolerated well according to the vaccination procedure,” said Siti Nadia Tarmizi through her virtual statement recently.
He explained, WHO recommends giving seasonal flu vaccine once a year in individuals from the age of six months to adulthood, especially for children and groups at high risk.
“The flu vaccine is effective for one year, and for optimal protection, it needs to be repeated once a year because the dominant flu virus strain or strain in circulation can change. With vaccination, people will be protected from the flu, and if they still have the flu, the symptoms and consequences will not be as severe as those without the vaccine,” he said.
He added, it is necessary to pay attention, children are an age group that is susceptible to contracting the flu which reaches 20 to 30 percent or higher than adults who only have a 5 to 10 percent chance.
