In Han-sur-Lesse, in the province of Namur, a group of Flemish scouts has been ordered to leave the meadow on which they have been camping since the beginning of August because they were making too much noise. This was done on the orders of the acting mayor of Rochefort, Corine Mullens, Sudpresse reports.

Local residents had previously complained to the police about noise pollution. In addition, alcohol consumption and lighting fires – currently prohibited in the municipality as a result of the drought – would also have been reason to request the scouts to stand.

According to the mayor, the group of young people had initially received a warning, but that did nothing. She emphasizes that “they have nothing against scouts at all, on the contrary”, “but they, like everyone else, must follow the same rules as our inhabitants when they stay on our territory”, it said. According to the mayor, many camps have already taken place in the municipality this summer, and in general it “went quite well”.
