Five years after surviving a flooded cave, a Thai youth soccer player has died

The 17-year-old was reportedly found lifeless in his dormitory room in Leicestershire.

At the moment, the exact cause of the teenager’s death is not yet known, but the local police report that the circumstances of the death are not being treated as suspicious. On the other hand, there were versions in the Thai media that the guy had previously sustained a head injury.

Six months ago, Promteps said on his “Instagram” account that “his dream has come true” because the young footballer had received a scholarship offer from a football academy in Great Britain.

Promteps is part of the Thai boys’ football team “Wild Boars”, who got stuck in a cave in 2018 and whose search mission involved around 10 thousand people.

The young footballers and their coach were trapped in the cave without light or food for nine days because the exit from the cave was blocked due to a storm. Promtep, who was also the captain of the team, was only 13 years old at the time. His teammates, on the other hand, were aged between 11 and 16. The unit’s coach, Ekaphon Kantavong, was 25 years old at the time.

After Protemp’s tragic death, several of his former teammates came out with words of remembrance on their social media accounts.

The rescue of the young footballers received widespread attention and has been featured in several documentaries.
