“Fiscal voracity”: ask not to charge municipal lawyers’ fees to those who adhere to the patent moratorium | ON24

From the numerous notifications to taxpayers for debts of the Automotive Patent generated during the months of last year, in which the banking entities were closed due to the mandatory isolation provided by the National Executive Power, the councilor of Together for Change, Charly Cardozo, presented a draft Decree so that the Municipality does not charge legal fees to those citizens who want to adhere to the moratorium.

“The Municipal Executive Department is entrusted to, through the Ministry of Finance, refrain from collecting attorney’s fees from the permanent plant of the Municipality of Rosario in the cases of citizens who come to adhere to the Automotive Patent Moratorium, taking into account the extraordinary situation that exists due to the sanitary and economic restrictions derived from the ASPO and DISPO provisions, in the framework of the covid-19 pandemic ”, states the articles of the initiative.

Among the considerations of the project, the mayor points out that “the intimations that the residents of Rosario receive do not refer to pre-judicial notes, so no proceedings have been carried out in the field of Courts.” However, Cardozo remarks that when taxpayers come to adhere to the moratorium -which applies until May 31-, they are told that, to access the benefit, they must pay a fee derived from the notification sent.

“The entire society is going through a moment of extreme fragility due to how serious and extensive the pandemic has been, both economically and emotionally, so it is trying to collect a sum destined for a lawyer employed by the Municipality for the simple fact to send a letter that is not even a pre-judicial procedure represents an act of fiscal voracity ”, said the councilor.

“Before going out to charge for a service not provided, the Municipal Executive should facilitate the access of citizens to the moratorium and, in addition, put a little reasonableness in the demands of the State at this time of uncertainty,” said Cardozo.
