First International Conference for Inspiring Arab Women: A Ancient Past… and a Sustainable Future

Sharjah, 23 October / WAM / The first international conference for inspiring Arab women began today under the slogan “A Ancient Past… and a Sustainable Future”, which is organized by the Emirati “Royal Web” Foundation for managing and organizing events, in cooperation with its supporting partners, at the Holiday Inn Sharjah Hotel, and will last for three days. In the presence of Mirza Al-Sayegh, Vice President of the Al Maktoum Charitable Foundation in Dubai, His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Yousef Al-Sabri, Secretary-General of the International Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, a number of those interested in women’s issues, and participants from 9 Arab countries.

The conference aims to bring together senior researchers, academics, professionals, policy makers and government agencies from a range of disciplines to discuss and exchange the latest research results and international best practices regarding issues related to the future of Arab women in general and Emirati women in particular in the era of artificial intelligence and on issues of empowerment in all its fields and the future of women after empowerment and related issues. Transformations in addition to how to invest artificial intelligence technologies in facing social and development challenges in Arab countries.

Dr. Jassim Mirza, Chairman of the Conference, stressed the importance of the conference as it is the first of its kind in the Arab world that cares about inspiring Arab women at a time that aims to reduce their family and societal role through the conference’s working papers that shed light on the media content that portrays women as a commodity. On the other hand, we see that Arab women still maintain their customs and traditions and carry out their duties towards their family.

For his part, Mirza Al Sayegh spoke about the positions of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” towards women and encouraging them to work and empower them until they are able to perform their role in the family to the fullest.

The conference topics include issues and problems of feminist thought and the future of Arab women in light of the digital society and post-empowerment conditions. The first day includes “two sessions,” the first of which includes 3 working papers by artist Dr. Habib Ghuloum, where he sheds light on the experience of Emirati women in drama and theater. Dr. Mona Jawad Suleiman also participates. With a working paper on women in leadership and their impact on the happiness of the government work environment. Dr. Kalthum Hussein Awad will discuss in her working paper the importance of Kuwaiti women’s participation in developing and building the nation. Soraya Al Zaabi will also share her experience, “My disability is the secret of my will.”

The working papers of the second session talk about the future of women and their conditions after empowerment, and are addressed by Dr. Amina Al-Majed, and the second paper is titled “Social and Psychological Problems of Polygamy,” delivered by Dr. Amna Abdullah Al-Khan from Saudi Arabia. Dr. Noura Saber Al-Mazrouei also addresses a paper titled “Characteristics of an Inspiring Woman,” and Sarah Al-Amiri addresses a paper titled Women’s creativity between necessity and perfection.

The second day includes 3 sessions during which Dr. Wajeeha Mortada Kazem Behbehani from the State of Kuwait will speak about a more stable and happy family. Dr. Turkiya Hamoud Hamid Al-Tuwairqi from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will speak about the empowerment of Saudi women during the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Amira Ahmed Al-Masoud from the State of Kuwait will address a paper entitled Transferring the productive family from need to production.

On the closing day, two sessions will be held, the first covering different working papers, where Dr. Nermin Awni from Egypt will talk about the paths and challenges after empowerment, Ansaf Ahmed Bakr from Saudi Arabia will talk about family and family stability, and Saba Kazem Al-Asfour from the Kingdom of Bahrain will talk about the working paper Adam and Eve Road Map.

In the second session, retired Colonel Dr. Fawzia Al-Mulla will speak about the Personal Status Law in the UAE, Sheikha Al Ali will discuss a working paper on the importance of women’s education in the UAE, Salma Abdel Majeed Al-Hajri will also discuss a working paper entitled Investing in Capacities in the Digital World, and Algerian journalist Bey Al-Tijani will present a working paper. Titled “Inspiring an Algerian female fighter.”

The conference will be accompanied by an art exhibition that includes paintings by participants, a tourism and entertainment program, and dialogue sessions. 14 participants from 9 Arab countries will be honored.
