The first case of coronavirus infection has been identified in the Valais. The patient is an approximately 30-year-old Upper Valais. Measures have been taken.
A smear taken this morning from a patient from Upper Valais at the age of 30 at Visp Hospital showed a positive result in the laboratory of the Central Institute of Hospitals in Sion. According to the procedure, a confirmation test must still be carried out by the national reference center in Geneva, as the canton of Valais announced on Friday evening.
Measures were taken immediately. The patient, whose condition is considered good and not of concern, was admitted to the Sion hospital. Four people in his family were quarantined at home. An epidemiological investigation is underway. This is to determine which other people he was in contact with, so that suitable measures can also be taken for them.
