Fireworks in Los Angeles suspended for the second year in a row

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the highest communal authority decided to suspend the traditional fireworks in Los Angeles on January 1 and that it was intended to welcome the coming year.

This is because the provincial capital is in total quarantine due to the increase in Covid-19 cases. The news was announced by the Mayor of Los Angeles, Esteban Krause through his Facebook account.

“As expected on December 31, there will be no fireworks show in Los Angeles. Perhaps the most grateful will be our pets, they have a very bad time with fireworks, “said the mayor.

Likewise, Krause indicated that “we continue to be concerned about the repeated illegal launching of fireworks in different sectors of our commune during the nights, without any type of restriction or supervision by the relevant authorities, knowing the risk and annoyance it causes in our neighbors.”

SUSPENSION YEAR 2019

It must be remembered that in 2019 the traditional pyrotechnic show was not held, since that year Chile was seeing the most important social movement of the 21st century, on that occasion the mayor indicated that it is a budget of approximately 30 million pesos, depending of the offer made by suppliers. That money will now go to the Health area, specifically to the installation of a dental laboratory for the benefit of the women of the commune ”.

Finally, so far it is not known if other communes in the province of Biobío are going to carry out the traditional act, which in Los Angeles by custom took place in the Esmeralda lagoon or in the municipal stadium.
