Firefighters took a woman with a huge tumor, weighing 250 kg, out of the window of her home

Firefighters from Gorna Oryahovitsa helped a 250-kilogram woman be evacuated from her home to seek medical help. The unusual special operation started on Sunday afternoon, when a call was made to 112 for an overweight woman who needed medical help in Dolna Oryahovitsa.

The 41-year-old patient was in the final stages of obesity and had a huge tumor in her abdomen and a host of other health problems. The on-duty team of the emergency center in Gorna Oryahovitsa responded on the spot, but the paramedic and the paramedic could not handle the transfer on their own, so they sought assistance from the fire department. Three firefighters came to the address and together with the medics took the huge woman out on a stretcher through the window of the house. It took more than an hour to transport them, eyewitnesses say.

Health workers warned about the 250-kilogram patient in the Emergency Department of the district hospital. When the ambulance arrived, two more teams of the local fire brigade were waiting at the entrance, who assisted in taking her to the medical facility.

After the examinations and tests, the 41-year-old woman was sent back home and an option for specialized surgical treatment in Pleven will be sought.

This is far from the first case in which firefighters help medics. Two weeks ago, they helped a 180-kilogram man with a coronavirus be removed from his apartment on a high floor next to the ambulance and transported to the district hospital. There he was admitted directly to the intensive care unit, but unfortunately he died. He was unvaccinated and had a host of comorbidities, the hospital said.
