The 69-year-old mechanic, accused of having burned down his house in the Bois Carré district, was indicted yesterday (Thursday, October 21), after being presented to an investigating magistrate.

At the end of his police custody, the 69-year-old man, accused of having burned his own house in Lamentin on Monday evening (October 18), was indicted yesterday for “arson”, at the end of its presentation to an examining magistrate.

In accordance with the requisitions of the prosecution, the judge of freedoms and detention pronounced his placement in pre-trial detention, taking into account, in particular, the disturbance of public order generated by the facts.

As a reminder, Monday, around 5 p.m., this father, owner of a garage located below the villa, had set fire to his 300 m2 home. No casualties were to be deplored. The respondent lived in the house with his wife and son.

Ongoing investigation

For the moment, the reasons for his gesture remain quite enigmatic but would be linked to a family conflict. From a source close to the investigation, the respondent “would have tripped”.

On the other hand, the case would have no connection with problems of couple as it could circulate on the social networks. The investigations, entrusted to the police, will now continue under the control of an investigating judge. The personality of the respondent will be analyzed in particular to try to understand this gesture.
