The integrated control center in Freiburg was informed that there was a fire in a residential area. A garage that was already fully engulfed in fire was found on site. The fire threatened to spread to the adjacent part of the residential building. According to witnesses, a loud bang was heard. Smoke and flames were seen rising from the garage. The residents of the residential building were able to leave it in time. One person was examined on-site as an outpatient on suspicion of smoke inhalation. There were no people inside the garage. The garage acts as a kind of “private workshop” for smaller scooters. The cause of the fire is probably a technical defect in an electric scooter – investigations into this are ongoing.
The property damage can be estimated at around EUR 250,000 in total. The workshop can no longer be entered or used due to the risk of collapse. The residential building is only partially habitable. The police station in Müllheim was supported by the Bad Krozingen fire brigade, the Markgräflerland fire brigade and the Bad Krozingen local section of the rescue service. The mayor was informed about the facts and came on site. The Bad Krozingen police station is responsible for handling the case.
