Offenbach – As the South East Hesse police headquarters in Offenbach am Main announced in a press release on Sunday (October 22nd), the fire department and police were called to a room fire early on Saturday evening around 6:30 p.m.

The location was in a multi-story residential building on Markwaldstrasse on an upper floor. “The fire department rescued an unconscious 38-year-old resident from the smoke-filled apartment,” reported a police spokesman.

The man had to be taken to hospital for further treatment. “The furniture and curtains in the apartment were already on fire,” the police said.

However, the neighboring apartments were not affected due to the rapid intervention of the fire brigade. An initial estimate of the damage is around 10,000 euros. The cause of the fire is currently unclear.

The Offenbach criminal police began the investigation. Meanwhile, a house fire in Dietzenbach in the Offenbach district a few hours earlier caused damage amounting to around 350,000 euros.
