UA “fairly significant” fire broke out at Bierset airport, in the province of Liège, in the course of the evening on Wednesday around 10:30 p.m. affecting building B30, between the passenger terminal and the oil section of the airport, a confirmed to Belga Christian Delcourt, communication manager of Liege Airport.

The firefighters from the airport and Liège were dispatched to the scene. There were no injuries to deplore and no aircraft were affected by the flames leaving. However, smoke development is significant, said Delcourt.
Fire under control shortly after midnight
Mr. Dony confirmed to Belga that the situation was under control in Grâce-Hollogne in the province of Liège. According to the acting mayor, the incident at Bierset airport, which did not claim any victims, did not concern any dangerous product and did not generate harmful fumes. The hotel near the airport did not have to be evacuated either.
Liege Airport spokesperson Christian Delcourt confirmed that the fire was under control and that the infrastructure remained operational. It is up to the airlines to decide whether or not to land in Bierset that night.
