Fire at Café ‘t Paleis in Nijmegen, police do not rule out intent | Nijmegen

The fire was discovered around 2.00 am and is said to have started behind the front door of the cafe. The police were there first.

Officers punched a hole in the front door and tried to extinguish the fire. In the meantime, houses above the café have been cleared. Several people had to go outside for their own safety.

Once arrived, the fire brigade quickly extinguished the fire. The damage to the cafe is extensive. Given that ‘t Paleis has been closed for some time and the fire started behind the front door with letterbox, arson is not ruled out by the police.
