People who fail to comply with the mandatory social immobilization on Sundays will be detained and will receive fines, reported Interior Minister Jorge Montoya, who urged the population to comply with the restrictions and measures in place to prevent covid-19.
During a visit to the Emergency Division of the National Police of Peru (PNP), he explained that the fines against those who violate the restrictions range between 86 and 430 soles, amounts equivalent to 2% and 10% of the tax unit. (ITU).
“In the event that vehicles are found in transit (during the restricted hours), the fine will be stronger for those who do not have authorization. This reaches 6,250 soles (…). Family gatherings are also prohibited, not only on Sundays, but also every day ”, he remarked.

He also stressed that the right to inviolability of the home is restricted, so that PNP agents are empowered by law to enter, even by force, homes where an agglomeration of people or family and social gatherings is detected.
They will redouble their efforts
Added to this is the possibility of detaining offenders and taking them to the corresponding police stations, without implying exonerating them from paying the respective fine.
Montoya also stressed that police personnel will redouble their efforts to intensify operations aimed at guaranteeing strict compliance with the regulations established by the Government and, in this context, they will act with energy and firmness, but without incurring abuses.
“We are going to act with energy, but, as you have already heard me, without overdoing it,” said the minister.
The police work will involve the departure of “all the troops that are necessary” and will have the support of the Armed Forces, he mentioned.

Greetings to officers
When expressing his greetings to the members of the PNP Emergency Division, Montoya highlighted the work of all the police in the country to control the spread of the coronavirus, and urged them to continue working in this mission with professionalism, courage and a vocation for service. .
“The work of our Police does not start from this Sunday, it has been done since March 16, when the pandemic began. We have rescued the best of everything we have learned and we will continue working on a national scale to protect our compatriots, ”he said.
With this premise, the Minister of the Interior extended his exhortation to the public to abide by the restrictions and maintain actions to prevent infections, such as the use of a mask, hand washing and social distance. “Let’s comply and there will be no problem,” he commented.
