Not wearing a face mask in public indoor spaces will be fined with 95 euros, the Ministry of Justice and Security confirms Wednesday evening to NU.nl after reporting from The Telegraph.
The fine is expected to take effect from 1 December. On Tuesday, the House of Representatives will receive the so-called ministerial regulation, part of the corona law. It also describes the fine.
Last month, the cabinet announced a national mandatory masking in public indoor spaces. Rutte emphasized during a press conference that there was still some “legal work” to be done prior to the mouth masking requirement, so that in recent weeks it remained with an “urgent mouth masking advice”.
Other corona fines also amount to 95 euros, because fines above 100 euros can lead to a criminal record. Such a judicial note can have too great consequences for a relatively minor offense, thus the cabinet in September.
