The finale of the singing program The Masked Singer was viewed by nearly 4 million people on Friday evening. According to KijkOnderzoek Foundation engaged 3,860,000 people on RTL 4, making the program once again the most viewed program of the day.
Since the finale of the first season of Idols in 2011 there was no RTL 4 program that attracted more viewers during the broadcast moment. Then 4.9 million people watched Jim Bakkum and Jamai Loman compete for the win.
The Masked Singer had been the most watched television program of the Friday night for weeks. Each episode attracted more viewers than the week before. Last week, 3.2 million people watched the program, according to Stichting KijkOnderzoek.
In the program famous Dutch people perform songs while they are unrecognizable dressed. It was up to the jury, consisting of Carlo Boszhard, Loretta Schrijver, Gerard Joling and Buddy Vedder, to guess who was hiding behind the masks. The presentation was in the hands of Ruben Nicolai.
On Friday, viewers saw how singer Jan Dulles (3JS), dressed as mythological figure Neptune, was declared the winner. Actress Noortje Herlaar, dressed in a fox suit, came second. Najib Amhali (zebra) and Nicolette van Dam (panther) dropped out earlier in the final. Churandy Martina, Mariska Bauer, Kim Feenstra, Diederik Jekel, Ernst Daniel Smid, Famke Louise, Babette van Veen and Samantha Steenwijk were the other well-known Dutchmen previously revealed.
After the final of the singing program, the NOS Journaal from 8 p.m. on NPO1 was the most watched program with 1,900,000 viewers. In third place came Beau, broadcast immediately after The Masked Singer. According to Stichting KijkOnderzoek, the talk show attracted 1,899,000 viewers.
