Even with the digital output of Berlinale Series Market & Conference turns from Tuesday March 2nd to Friday March 5th everything about current series productions and the future of the series market. The European Film Market (EFM) invites you to a virtual conference and screening program with keynotes, showcases and streaming as part of the 71st Berlinale. The Film and Media Foundation NRW is a co-initiator and official main partner in the seventh year.

“The series and streaming hype increased significantly again in the lockdown, and new content is urgently needed. In keynotes, talks and showcases, we ask about the content strategies of program providers, platforms and producers, we ask what the audience wants and where the journey is going, especially in the current situation ”, so Petra Müller, Managing Director of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. “Good news for the industry that the EFM is again offering series producers a market and conference platform this year. We look forward to supporting the market as the main partner for the 7th edition and are looking forward to the digital series marathon! “

Opening: Keynote Russell T Davies, Market Analysis and Talk
The new EFM director Dennis Ruh and Director of the Film Foundation Petra Müller jointly open the one-day online conference on Wednesday, March 3rd. The opening keynote by the legendary British television producer and screenwriter (“Doctor Who”, “Queer as Folk”, “Years and Years”) follows. Guy Bisson (Ampere Analytics) presents its market analysis of global, narrative trends. In the thematically related, subsequent talk, top-class industry representatives talk about their content strategies and current series trends.

Showcases
Series showcases from different countries accompany the conference program. The showcase “Upcoming Series From Germany” focuses on German series production, including the eight-part drama adventure series “Wild Republic“(Lailaps Pictures / X Films Creative Pool, Magenta TV / WDR / SWR / arte / One, Beta Film), also” Para – Wir sind King “(W&B Television, TNT series),” Blackout “(W&B Television, Joyn / Sat1, Red Arrow Studios Int.) At the Co-Pro Series Pitches of the Berlinale Co-Production Market, ten selected series projects will be presented that are looking for partners for co-production and financing. With “Mix and Mingle”, the Berlinale Series Market & Conference also offers networking for series creators in the online edition. The program of the series Berlinale Series within the Berlinale Special has already been published today.

Berlinale Series Market & Conference
Berlinale Series Market & Conference is a joint initiative of EFM, the Berlinale Co-Production Market and Berlinale Talents. The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW launched the Berlinale Series Market & Conference (formerly “Drama Series Days”) together with the EFM in 2015 as a platform for series. The European Film Market is one of the most important markets in the world for the international trade in film rights and audiovisual content.

The 71st Berlin International Film Festival will be a festival in two stages. The industry platforms will kick off with an online offering in March. In June there will be a summer event with film screenings both in cinemas and open air.
