As of: 01/26/2021 4:19 p.m.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Hamburg has provided more than 5.5 billion euros in corona aid. According to Finance Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD), there are currently around 1.5 billion available for companies and cultural institutions.

After ten months of the Hamburg protective umbrella, the volume is 5.532 billion euros, said Dressel on Tuesday at the state press conference. “That is very, very remarkable.” State funds of 1.5 billion euros are available for further aid. The Senate is not out of breath, said Dressel self-confidently.

An additional 50 million for small businesses

Senator for Economic Affairs Westhagemann: Corona Recovery Fund is increased.

Economic Senator Michael Westhagemann (independent) said the Senate also had the Corona Recovery Fonds for small businesses and the registration period extended. “We have increased the available funding volume from 50 million euros to 100 million (…) and we have now extended the term to June 30, 21,” said Westhagemann. The aim is for innovative start-ups and growth-oriented medium-sized companies with a maximum of 50 employees to receive uncomplicated money, which, however, must be paid back later. So far, 96 applicants have received a funding volume of 35 million euros, said Westhagemann. Senator for Culture Carsten Brosda (SPD) called the fund an important aid for start-ups in the media and digital sector.

Grant for digitization of companies

In a few weeks, companies can also apply for a grant if they want to invest in their own digitization. The city is making up to 30 million euros available for this.

According to Dressel, there are already a number of interested parties who want to bring the city into the company as silent shareholders. Hamburg has reserved around 900 million euros for this. Dressel did not want to name companies. The Senator for Finance admits problems with the so-called November and December aid, but blamed the federal government for them.
