Mohamed Sultan, head of the Medical Association of the Egyptian Football Association, revealed that 19 cases in the Egyptian League were infected with Corona virus, not including Mohamed Awad, the Zamalek goalkeeper.
Sultan said in statements to Radio On Sport: “We have 19 positive cases of Corona virus so far between the league teams after the first medical survey.”
“The cases do not include Mohamed Awad, the goalkeeper of Zamalek, we announce cases that have been smeared within the Football Association only,” the medical committee president explained.
Sultan revealed, “This number is not disturbing, and all cases are stable. The injured are distributed in 8 clubs and Tanta has the largest number of cases.”
The Tanta Club had announced five cases of infection with the Corona virus after the first survey.
“All the medical devices of the clubs have been contacted to start the medical protocol immediately, and it is in line with the protocol of the World Health Organization and the international federations,” Sultan added.
The head of the Football Association’s medical committee added, “The protocol includes conducting two scans 24 hours before the training, and a swab 24 hours before each match for all elements of the game to ensure that everyone inside the green rectangle is not injured.”
As for the arbitration component, Sultan replied, “An internal camp for the referees will be made well in advance of the start of the matches to ensure their safety.”
He stressed, “No injured element will enter the match, and if anyone is injured, he will be isolated and no action will be taken with uninfected negative cases.”
“We are still studying with the Competitions Committee when it is necessary to take a decision to postpone the match. This procedure is not only in the hands of the Medical Committee, but it will be taken in coordination with the Competitions Committee.”
