Samir Halabya, President of Al-Masry Club, called for canceling the league competition this season and canceling all competitions for various sports in Egypt.
Halabia told FilGoal.com: “There must be a decision to cancel the Egyptian league immediately and with it all the leagues for the various games, because the safety of the Egyptian citizen is more important than anything.”
He added, “The best solution is to cancel the league and consider it as if it was not, and there is no alternative to that and to think from now about the form of the competition in the new season.”
“But the Football Association cannot make a serious and decisive decision. What has been offered to the clubs so far?”
“Union members are blocking the interests of clubs rather than facilitating them and helping them in all difficult situations,” he added.
He stressed, “Activating the League of Clubs is an important matter, as Mortada Mansour, the President of Zamalek pointed out a while ago, to be in charge of making decisions that are in the interest of clubs and the competition.”
And he moved on to talk about the second division, saying: “What did the Football Association offer to the rising clubs for the Premier League and what is the material return that the clubs receive to help them continue in the league?
“Staying in the league needs a big budget and distributing the material return to the clubs is not fair.”
He demanded, “In the coming season, with the end of the Corona virus crisis, everyone is safe. I wish good planning for the form of the competition and the return of the fans.”
“We have given our players a rest until next Saturday and it is possible that the period will extend for two weeks, after which we will conduct checks on all players to ensure their safety,” he said.
“The cancellation of the league is the decision that ends the controversy over the competition and preserves the safety of everyone and certainly we wish everyone safe,” he said.
