FilmThe fifth installment of the Scream series goes back to basics. The film will simply be called ‘Scream’, writer Kevin Williamson announces on social media on Wednesday. The recordings were completed this week.

“It says it,” Williamson writes gratefully. “Almost 25 years ago, when I wrote ‘Scream’ and Wes Craven brought it to life, I could never have imagined the impact the films would have on you, the fans. I love that we are returning to Woodsboro and again can get scared. ”

The new Scream movie has many actors from the previous parts returning, including Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell. The Scream films are set in the fictional town of Woodsboro, where murders are committed regularly. The perpetrator is wearing a mask inspired by Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream.

The fifth film can be seen in the cinema from January 2022.
