Containment and traffic restrictions are good. In 2020, the number of observed incidents decreased by 11% in the police and 10% in the gendarmerie area. In detail, attacks on property in Côte-d’Or, i.e. primarily burglaries, have fallen by 17% in the police and 21% in the gendarmerie area.
Same trend for attacks to the person which decreased in 2020 by the order of 4%. With a downside all the same: the number of intra-family violence has increased, mainly because of confinement.
For Fabien Sudry, the prefect of Côte-d’Or, “the events of June in Dijon mask an overall improvement in public security in the department.” Following the violence that shook the Grésilles district and the city of Chenôve, the city of Dijon obtained the additional reinforcement of 20 police officers. This system has made it possible, with the reinforcement of CRS and gendarmes, for several months to carry out operations to combat drug trafficking.

“In the fight against delinquency and drug trafficking, we should not expect a relaxation of the police and gendarmerie forces”, warns the prefect of Côte-d’Or.
