Ferrari turned out not to be really ready for the first race of the postponed season in the racing motorsport class last weekend. In qualifying, the proud Italians with their SF1000 car had to admit almost a second to Mercedes’ W11.
Against all odds, Charles Leclerc sent his car to a 2nd place in the grand prix. Sebastian Vettel got no further than 10th place.
Initially, Ferrari hoped to start in two weeks with an improved car in Boedepast, but director Louis Camilleri now revealed that Ferrari’s racing cars will have more speed in the house this weekend, thanks to some aerodynamic improvements.
“It is clear that we need to improve on all fronts and that can already happen this week,” he said. “Leclerc showed on Sunday in Austria how to defend our colors. It was a pity that Vettel was unable to show his qualities because his car was not in balance.”
The second race of the season will take place on Sunday at the Spielberg circuit. Is Ferrari convinced now?
