Ferrari announces major restructuring technical department

Ferrari has announced the launch of a new Performance Development department, as part of a major restructuring of the engineering department within the team.

The Ferrari team is in severe weather. The performance of the SF1000 is disappointing and it also seems to be messing around within the team. Meanwhile, Maranello has hit the table with the fist. Amid a slow start to the season, Ferrari has announced a major restructuring of its engineering department. This was done with the intention of “giving a more effective and holistic emphasis to performance development.” The Scuderia is currently fifth in the constructors’ championship, which is highly unusual in Italy.

This new department – headed by main aerodynamics Enrico Cardile – will work closely with the other sections of Ferrari. Team boss Mattia Binotto says the new department will leverage the expertise of several engineers, including former aerodynamics expert Rory Byrne, while clearly re-mapping the responsibilities and work processes of the other department heads.

“We believe that the Ferrari staff is of the highest level and we do not detract from our competitors in that regard, but we had to make a big change and raise the bar on the responsibilities of the department heads,” said Binotto. “We have laid the foundation for a process that is to lead to a new profit cycle. It will take time and there will be setbacks as we now experience them in terms of performance and results. However, we must act with vigor and determination respond to these shortcomings to be back on top as soon as possible. “
