Fernando Seara confirms: «The closing of the market and the Enzo issue led to the absence of Rui Costa» – Benfica

The president of Benfica’s General Assembly, Fernando Seara, confirmed that Rui Costa’s absence in Tortosendo had as one of the reasons the possible transfer of Enzo Fernández to Chelsea. The president of the eagles had planned to be present at the closing dinner of the centenary celebrations of Sport Tortosendo and Benfica. “The imponderables happen, and these last few hours of market closing and the Enzo matter motivated his absence”, began by saying the director, before leaving a guarantee to those present. “Rui will come here with me and Domingos soon, because the 100 years of Tortosendo, the city of Covilhã and the region of Beira Baixa deserve Rui Costa to come here. I guarantee that this will really happen”, he expressed. The dinner was attended by around 200 Benfica supporters – and even some Sporting supporters such as the president of the Parish Council of Tortosendo David Silva – and in addition to Fernando Seara, the delegation of the reds included Domingos Lima, vice-president of the eagles, and Jorge Jacinto, responsible for the Branches and Houses of Benfica.
