142 OU “Veselin Hanchev” and 203 PEG “Sveti Metodii” in the metropolitan area “Krasno selo” fail to share the municipal property, which gives rise to ugly conflicts. This became clear at the meeting of the committee on education and culture of the Sofia Municipal Council, the website Stolica.bg reported. The headmistress of one school was beaten and chased by female teachers from the other schoolwhich is housed in the same building, as the children witnessed the absurd situation, the municipal councilor said Greti Stefanova. She asked the commission to take a stance on the issue and assist in resolving the conflict between the warring parties so that children do not witness ugly scenes.
“Between 800 and 1000 children watch this circus, and it’s in the center of Sofia,” emphasized Stefanova. She pointed out that the difficult coexistence of the two schools is a problem that has remained unresolved for years.
The head of the “Education” Directorate in the Capital Municipality, Maria Mincheva, confirmed that there is a problem between the directors of the two municipal schools. In her words, the directorate “conducts active correspondence with the directors and the regional administration to clarify things. The Sofia municipality gave instructions, but there was a sharp personal conflict between the two directors and no consensus could be reached. Mincheva pointed out that in other regions of in the capital, two schools use a common building, but the case in “Krasno Selo” is the only one. In connection with the problem, many meetings were held, such as unofficially, the mayor of the region, Rosina Stanislavova, announced in a letter that she would support the merger of the two schools. Maria Mincheva also said that if this proposal is accepted by the Metropolitan Municipal Council, the schools should be united with a new number (under a new name – b. r.) and a new director should be appointed. She personally thinks that this is not the best decision.
In many of the schools that use the same building, there are problems, but they are solved through dialogue, with the assistance of the district administration and constructive behavior, while in “Krasno Selo” they are at war, commented the municipal councilor Deyan Stamatovwhich is also school.
The Committee on Education and Culture decided to study the case in more detailto find the roots of the conflict and make the optimal decision for the students of both schools.
