Kaiserslautern – Thanks to Felix Platte, SC Paderborn has at least temporarily moved to the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga and inflicted the first defeat of the season on 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

Coach Lukas Kwasniok’s team won 1-0 (0-0) in front of 33,098 spectators in the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. Attacker Platte scored the goal in the 82nd minute with his fourth goal of the season.

From the 50th minute onwards, the Palatinate played ten men, as Hendrick Zuck saw the red card for an emergency brake. Both teams played evenly until the break. In the twelfth minute, Lautern’s Boris Tomiak headed the bar, on the other side a header from Platte just missed the FCK goal (33′).

The decisive scene then happened in the 47th minute: Kaiserslautern’s Zuck fouled Sirlord Conteh, referee Matthias Jöllenbeck first showed Zuck a yellow card and awarded a penalty. However, he corrected himself after video evidence of a free kick because the foul took place just outside the penalty area – and punished Zuck with red. Paderborn had a little more of the game with a majority and Platte used one of the few opportunities for the guests to score the winning goal.
