FCN: Manuel Schäffler is fighting for his contract extension – 2nd Bundesliga

Will you really still see him in the club shirt next season?

After two years, Manuel Schäffler’s (33) contract ends in the summer. However, this is extended when the striker reaches a certain number of missions (BILD reported). Most recently, Cheffe was not allowed to play at all four times (twice sick, twice 90 minutes on the bench).

Will Schäffler still get his overtime game or will he go haywire as a substitute?

Coach Robert Klauß (37) when asked by BILD: “I have no idea how many missions that are and how many he has. It would be stupid if I knew that. So I could influence that in a positive or negative direction. As a coach you have to completely free yourself from clauses.”

How many games Schäffler actually needs to extend the contract is not known. In the club environment, however, there are rumors that the attacker (so far 19 second division and two cup games) is only missing one mission.

But there is also a lot to be said against a rosy future at FCN! He is one of the top earners (over 500,000 euros a year), but is no longer at the top of the striker hierarchy. In addition, due to the system changeover to a 4-2-3-1, only one real attacker is required and Schäffler is not really suitable for the pressing football demanded by Klauss.

The club coach: “At the moment, the others in front are just doing well. Especially Pascal Köpke in his role as the only leader. The games didn’t necessarily indicate that we needed bosses.”

If that doesn’t change by the end of the season, it would mean the end for Schäffler at FCN!
