FC Lupinu returns to neighborhood football

The story could begin banally: Childhood friends from the Lupino district in Bastia who despite the passage of time, they are now between 25 and 35 years old, continue to see each other and play ball together, as they do. used to do in the neighborhood. But today the neighborhood stadiums have unfortunately disappeared. So they get together in sports halls to satisfy their passion. And after the games, over a drink, the discussions are going well. We’re talking about Sporting, of course, but football in general too. And at the beginning of September, an idea sprang up! What if we created a club in our neighborhood, the Lupino club. The idea immediately appeals to the hard core of Lupino’s friends. FC Lupinu was born. Its president, Joseph Sageot, 33, embodies the very essence of FCL through his history, his family and his values. The association’s office is made up of local children: Alexis Biavardi is its treasurer, Pierre-Marie Dufresne, the youngest of the gang, the secretary, Emilien Biamonte, Kevin Luciani and Mickaël Westry complete the organization chart. Loïc is responsible for social networks, which he feeds, once the information has been validated by the office. “Our objective was to create a club in our village of Lupino” explains Joseph Sageot, “A real neighborhood club, a popular club as it existed before, with the strong values of Corsicans, of the southern districts of Bastia. These same values, this mentality which have made Lupino a breeding ground for great talents for many years and which have played in all the clubs on the island. Today, young people stay at home, behind a computer or a console, this club can get them out of their homes ”.
The buzz on social networks
Barely created, the club has already made the buzz on social networks. In just a few days the FB * page has been viewed thousands of times and subscribers now exceed 1,800. “I admit that we were very surprised by this enthusiasm, proof that there was an expectation in Lupino” underlines J. Sageot. “To make ends meet, we went to see the lupino traders” adds Treasurer Alexis Biavardi. “We were very well received and despite the crisis, many helped us financially. They quickly identified with the club “. If the enthusiasm is such, the leaders remain firmly on the ground.
“Of course we have many projects” explains Pierre-Marie Dufresne, “But we are going to proceed in stages and put the club on a solid foundation, structure it. The goal of FCL is to continue in the future as a popular club, oriented towards the development and education of football ”.

The FCL has of course given itself a logo, a logo imagined and created by all the components of the club. “Our colors are proudly represented with a dominant black, which will also tint our home jerseys and which will also be accompanied by gold and white. On the logo, we can see the Pignu overlooking our neighborhood. The testa mora is also there, a nod to Sporting and its European epic ”. As for the club’s headquarters, we couldn’t find better: the small bar A Merendella, located near the Lupino Creek which flows into the sea, at the height of the fire station.

Soon in R4?
Word of mouth and social networks have meant that in a few days, around twenty players have joined the hard core. “Players capable of progressing in levels of R2 and even R1 immediately wanted to get involved in this project” points out Émilien Biamonte, whose father, Marc, 58, a former SECB and OGC Nice professional, also passed through Sète and L’Île Rousse before becoming an educator and coach of clubs such as Furiani or La Casinca, is the FCL general manager. He will be assisted by Louis Sageot, 63, a former SCOB youth coach, and Marius Mattei, 67. After contacting the Bastia Agglomeration Community, the club was assigned a training slot at the Volpajo Stadium. “We train there on Tuesday evening and we will play our championship games there” indicates President Sageot. Because if the club wants to be a neighborhood club where we come to have fun with friends, we do not put competition out of the game. “We met the leaders of the Corsican Football League, and we should take part in the R4 championship, the former PHC, which begins on October 18, if by that date all our papers are up to date. So we hope to see people from the neighborhood come and see us play ”. And the rest? “We don’t want to skip the steps ” reiterates J. Sageot. “We start with ambition but also humility with this group of adults but we also want to grow the club. We think of course of teams of young people or veterans. It will come when the time comes. We want to show that in Lupino we can also create beautiful things ”.
What else to add if not… Forza?
