Nevertheless, Hainer expects the corona pandemic to have a lasting impact on the football business. The transfer market in particular will feel the effects, according to the Bayern boss. “In my opinion, the transfer sums will go down. The clubs earn less and my business logic tells me that if there is less money in circulation, then less can be spent,” Hainer suspects.
However, it remains to be seen whether this also applies to salaries. “Top performers will always have a special price. It is the same in art, music and business, and it will remain that way in sports.”
Statements by the 65-year-old, which can certainly also be seen as a pointer for a transfer from Bayern dream player Leroy Sané. Not least because of the Corona crisis, FC Bayern Manchester City is said to only offer a sum of between 40 and 60 million euros for the offensive player. There were doubts as to whether the deal would go off this summer.
BVB could have been “theoretically” champions
Hainer also commented on the allegation that the dominance of Bayern harmed the tension in the Bundesliga. “Theoretically, it could have been enough for the championship in the last two seasons for Dortmund and this season for Dortmund or Leipzig,” said Hainer, who specified: “I remember well that we were only seventh at our Christmas party – now we are we became champions with a clear lead. “
