The negotiations about an extension of Serge Gnabry at FC Bayern are still tough. As the “Bild“ reported, the German record champions presented the 26-year-old, who celebrated his fourth championship with Munich last weekend, with an improved offer, which the winger has not accepted so far. And that, although the club had responded to the player’s wishes.
Accordingly, the offer includes a salary adjustment, which means that Gnabry, whose current working paper ends in 2023, can earn between 17 million and 19 million euros gross in the future. He would be at a similar level to Kingsley Coman (25) and Leroy Sané (26), which is said to have been a right-footed demand. So far, his income has amounted to around 8 million euros.

But the salary is said to have been only a minor topic in the most recent talks. Rather, Gnabry is “disappointed” that the negotiations have been dragging on for so long and that’s why he doesn’t have the feeling that the club really wants to keep him – in contrast to Coman, Joshua Kimmich (27) or Leon Goretzka (27), who have already been committed for the long term.
Report: FC Bayern’s Gnabry in no hurry when deciding on an extension
According to the report, the fronts between the two parties are currently hardened. FC Bayern do not plan to improve their offer again and Gnabry is in no hurry to make a decision by the end of the season. That is why there is an internal discussion as to whether the professional, who with a market value of 70 million euros is the fourth most valuable player with an expiring contract in summer 2023, should be given a deadline. This was already the case with David Alaba (29), who decided to leave for Real Madrid and thus became one of the most valuable free transfer players in the world. The Munich team definitely want to prevent a similar scenario.

Gnabry switched from Werder Bremen to FCB in 2017 for 8 million euros, but spent the following season on loan at TSG Hoffenheim. In the past four seasons he has scored 63 goals in 168 games (40 assists) for FC Bayern – only Robert Lewandowski (33; 191 goals) of his team-mates has scored more times during this period.
