Fatal Christmas Eve Brawl in Senen, Central Jakarta: 9 Suspects Arrested

Brawl in the Senen area, Central Jakarta, causing casualties. A man with the initials FN (40) died as a result of being hit by a thrown ceramic on the neck.

Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto is concerned about the phenomenon of brawls that often occur in the DKI Jakarta area. He said that the perpetrators of the brawl seemed to be carrying out jihad and were ready to die for the brawl.

“Because, when you leave the house, (it is as if) fighting for jihad, you are ready to die. And this is not a figment of imagination. Many of our younger brothers and sisters have died in vain as victims of brawls,” said Karyoto in a year-end release from Polda Metro Jaya, quoted Friday (29/12).

Deadly brawl It happened on Jalan Kramat Pulo 2, Senen, Central Jakarta, right on Christmas Eve, Sunday (24/12/2023). The brawl between residents involved two groups, namely the ‘Kebon’ and ‘Ledeng’ groups.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro said that the brawl was triggered by the post ‘I haven’t had a brawl in a long time’ on social media. Nine people involved in the brawl have now been arrested by the police. Here are the facts.

A brawl occurred on Christmas Eve

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo said the incident occurred on Jalan Kramat Pulo 2, Senen, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (24/12/2023) evening or on Christmas Eve. Police officers who were carrying out security measures at the church immediately went to the location.

“Then carrying out an investigation, it was discovered that the brawl involved two groups, namely the first group, the Kebon group and the Ledeng group,” said Susatyo at a press conference in Kramat Village, Central Jakarta, Friday (29/12).

The Kebon group is headed by the initials F and A who are currently still being chased by the police or on the wanted list (DPO). Then Plumbing group headed by CD.

This incident killed FN. The victim died as a result of being hit in the neck by a ceramic throw.

9 Suspects Arrested

Susatyo said that his party had arrested 9 suspects. Two of them are still minors.

“In this case, we have carried out law enforcement by arresting at least nine suspects. Of the nine, seven are adults and two are children in conflict with the law (ABH),” explained Susatyo.

The 7 suspects and their roles are:

UA (40) stone throwing role
MIN (39) role in throwing stones, positive for amphetamine methamphetamine
MIS (29) stone throwing role
AF (29) the role of throwing stones, positive for amphetamine methamphetamine
MIH (23) stone throwing role
DA (38) stone throwing role

“Meanwhile, the other two children were not present here, so regarding this incident we asked for various pieces of evidence, namely ceramic shards which injured the victim, resulting in death. Then there were 1 brick shards, too. flash disk “which contains CCTV footage, including footage we took from various social media related to the brawl,” he said.
