There was a fatal traffic accident between Oberrüti and Sins on Friday afternoon. In the out-of-town area, a truck and a Toyota collided head-on at 2:50 p.m. The driver succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident, the cantonal police wrote in a message on Saturday morning.
The identity of the victim has so far not been unequivocally clarified. The truck driver, a 43-year-old Swiss citizen, remained unharmed on the outside.
It is not yet clear why a frontal collision occurred on the open route. The completely demolished Toyota was thrown into a brook.
The main road between Sins and Oberrüti had to be closed to carry out the fact-finding and salvage work. The Dietwil-Oberrüti fire brigade set up a detour. This measure lasted until around 9.20 p.m.
The Muri-Bremgarten public prosecutor has opened an investigation to clarify the cause of the accident. Property damage in the amount of several tens of thousands of francs was incurred.
