Family quarrel with machetes and machine guns – SEK storms apartments

BerlinA dispute between two families in Berlin-Moabit triggered a large-scale police operation with a subsequent house search. According to the first findings of the police, several members of the two families are said to have clashed on Pritzwalker Strasse on Monday afternoon. According to witness statements, those involved are said to have been threatened with an old machine gun. Several machetes also played a role, the police said on Tuesday.

Since it was not clear what danger the owners of the weapons posed, the forces obtained a judicial search warrant against a 44-year-old suspect. Heavily armed officers from a special task force stormed apartments on Uhlandstrasse and Ordensmeister Strasse. According to the police, the war weapon described could not be found during the subsequent searches. The machetes were also apparently well hidden.

The police are now investigating threats and violations of the War Weapons Control Act. According to information from the Berliner Zeitung, the two families are not a clan known to the police or an extended family of Arab origin.
