Thousands of Florida families will receive child support checks to offset the impact of rising inflation, which in June increased to 9.1%, the highest level in 40 years. The payment, approved by Governor Ron DeSantis, is intended to provide relief so parents can pay for supplies for the upcoming school year.

According to a statement from the First Lady of Florida, Casey DeSantis, about 59,000 families are eligible for the one-time payment of $450 per child. The payments will be financed with more than $35 million from the state budget made up of federal aid provided to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, according to the statement by Casey DeSantis.
The authorities pointed out that checks will be automatically sent to eligible individuals. Payments have already begun to be sent, but when sent by mail, it could take several days or weeks to arrive.
Governor DeSantis’ spokeswoman, Christina Pushaw, clarified on Twitter that the letters sent with the check are real, and included an image of correspondence sent by the governor to families receiving the aid.
