Family prepares to emotionally reunite with the dog they saved in Turkey

A family that helped rescue an injured dog in Turkey is preparing to take him home to Dundee.

Bobo German Shepherd Cross will start a new life next week after reuniting with the family last year.

Last September, at a resort in Antalya, Pallumbi did her best in family life.

One of his back was injured and his hair was very mixed.

Rescue work

Leon Hutchson, the couple’s mother, said it was “heartbreaking” to see the injured puppy in poor condition as they passed as they sat down to eat.

He knew he needed help and sought the help of a vet to treat Bobo.

Now Bobo will return to the UK next week to live with Lyonne, her two children and a partner.

The dog is named after former Celtic defender Bobo Balde, his goofy Celtic teammate Kevin Walton.

Liane said: “When I first saw Bobo, Kevin said, ‘Don’t look at Liane, she was in really bad shape.

“Last night he walked from the beach to the hotel, he only had three legs because I was stuck on his back leg.

“My two sons Christopher and Ruben and I ran up to him.

“I sat with him for four hours until the cattle came and cut off all the strands of hair.”

Action plan

Liane, who owns her own dog daycare business, knew what she wanted to do the best she could to make sure the animal received the best possible care.

He added: “The truth is, basically, Bobo could have been released on the beach.

“They said there were many reasons why the rescue centers were closed and they had to park it on the beach.

“I can’t have it, but at first I didn’t know about bringing a dog into the country.”

The family has been receiving regular updates on Bobo’s family’s progress ahead of his trip to the UK.

When the couple saw ways to bring Bobo home with friends and family, they started crowdfunding page To help bear some ongoing costs.

He added: “We started a fundraiser five months ago when he calculated the cost of staying in a dog hotel and isolated him before a flight.

“We raised £ 1,000 in the first 48 hours and it was amazing.”

The last leg of Bobo’s journey

The family planned to welcome him to Dundee on Valentine’s Day before the combination of Brexit and Govt-19 prevented him from reuniting.

He added: “The first batch of fundraisers helped cover all expenses before Bobo arrived in February.

“We hid for the next term, but in all the problems that are going on, it now costs $ 1,100 now that it initially cost two hundred euros to bring it back.

“Friends who have helped us cope with congestion in the past have told us to reopen to try to deal with the additional costs.

“Now we have set a new target of 100 2,100. People have already been generous in their help.

Liane said Bobo will be coming to Dundee at the end of next week.

“We can’t wait to see it,” he said.

“It’s an emotional reunion, and people are eager to meet him because of the crowd and the backstory.”
