Senegalese international hit the post on his penalty kick in a 1-0 defeat at Swansea who ended his team’s chances of reaching the playoffs for the rise to the Premier League.
Diedhiou later tweeted “Why ??” next to a screenshot of a Twitter user who sent him a message consisting of three banana emojis.

Bristol police said they had asked Twitter to delete the message and more information about the offender.
The incident follows recent high-profile abuses this month involving Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace and David McGoldrick of Sheffield United.
“Racist messages of any kind are heinous,” said police, “and we want to reassure the player and the club that a full and thorough investigation will now take place. “
