Faltýnek defended Prymula. In the letter, he writes to YES about the secret meeting

Hello, dear colleagues,

I turn to you with the following request. As you know, today I resigned as the first vice-president of our movement. I did so in consultation with the President and thus inferred political responsibility for the mistakes of my Wednesday’s meeting with Minister Prymula. Although I am not aware of the specific government measures I was supposed to break with the meeting, at the same time I perceive that it is also a certain symbol towards the public and a breach of trust, and that is why I decided to deduce personal responsibility.

I would like to briefly describe the whole event to you, so that you have information not only from the media, but also directly from me. On Wednesday, I asked Minister Prymula for a meeting on topics related to the coronavirus epidemic. Among other things, I needed information for the extraordinary meeting of the Chamber of Deputies, which we convened. However, the Minister was only late in the evening, so we met in a private lounge above the closed Rio’s restaurant in Vyšehrad. So it was not directly in the restaurant, which is more or less a detail, because the restaurant was closed as well. In my opinion, Minister Prymula did not really make a mistake, and the current strict measures, such as restrictions on movement, did not come into force until Thursday morning. I was wrong that I did not have a veil when talking to the owner of the restaurant, with whom I was also photographed by journalists. I acknowledge my mistake. However, the whole thing will also be investigated by hygiene, for which I am only happy, because, as I said, in my opinion, we did not break any regulations with the meeting itself. If, according to hygiene, the rules are violated, I am prepared to accept the sanctions with humility.

I handed over my resignation to the position of first vice-president, and I also gave a public promise that I would address the club as well. I would therefore like to ask you, the members of our parliamentary group – do you trust me as the chairman of our parliamentary group, or do you think that I should resign and make it available?

I ask for your opinion, I will respect the majority opinion of the club.

I’m sorry to bother you before the weekend, but since I’m paired next week and I won’t be at the club on Tuesday, I’d like to know your opinion in this way.

Thank you for your reactions and opinions and have a nice weekend.

Jaroslav Faltynek
