This program belonging to Meta, saw its birth during the 2018 United States electoral process, in order to protect from cyber attacks and digital fraud to all those accounts of officials, politicians, journalists, activists, social activists, defenders of the human rights and other persons of public importance.
The primary intention of bringing Facebook Protect to different countries is to safeguard the integrity of user accounts, as already mentioned, because these can be targets of cyber attacks, hackers or frauds with malicious purposes, one of the Functions that will now be implemented to safeguard the gutters will be two-step authentication, as well as integration of controls and constant checks to detect and anticipate possible threats.

The program remains active in 12 countries so far and it is now where it will seek to apply this account protection project to 50 countries, including Mexico, Argentina and Brazil; However, it is announced that the accounts that will be included in the program will be notified personally and through the Facebook wall.
When choosing an account and that it accepts to belong to the project, the beneficiaries upon receiving the message will have to activate two-step authentication on Facebook, in addition to having to generate a secure password among other measures that reinforce identity and security. from account.
However, within the parameters of the program it is indicated that there will be accounts that will have to carry out the process in a mandatory manner, it is also indicated that the project seeks to cover more sectors in the future, with which it will no longer be possible to access an account that is not included in the project. So far it was announced that only 4 percent of active accounts make use of this security tool.
These types of measures suggest an improvement in the security of users, it is worth mentioning that although the first intention is to protect accounts of officials and people considered relevant to public life, the intention of Meta is that all active users within the network social, have this protection; However, although for now this tool is only available for Facebook, it is expected that in the future it will be applied to the other Meta universe platforms.
