In order to prevent possible network congestion on the social networks Facebook and Instagram, Facebook temporarily throttles the bit rate for videos on the two platforms. The US company confirmed this week to IT magazine

.
“We work closely with our partners to manage bandwidth constraints during this period of high demand,”
explains the company in an official statement. In doing so, Facebook wants to guarantee that people can stay in touch via the social networks even during the Covid 19 pandemic and that there will be no failures due to overload.
While numerous companies were closed during the pandemic, many people are forced to work from home. School closures and short-time work in turn lead to more free time and thus to an increased use of video streaming services and social networks. Many people also use the network and messenger video telephony options to stay in touch with family and friends. Video streaming providers like Netflix, Disney + and Amazon Prime Video also have video quality in their services
