Youp van ‘t Hek infected with coronavirus released from hospital | NOW

Youp van ‘t Hek, who was announced last Thursday that he had contracted a coronavirus infection, can recover further at home. His management confirms to NU.nl after reporting the AD that the comedian has been released from the hospital.

“His sincere thanks and great appreciation go to the doctors and nurses of this hospital,” the statement said. “Again the request to leave Youp and his family alone for the time being so that he can heal quietly in his own environment.”

In September, Van ‘t Hek will go back to work – if everything goes well.

On Thursday, his management in conversation with NU.nl confirmed that the comedian had been hospitalized with a COVID-19 virus infection. The day after, the comedian announced “to be back on the road”.

Van ‘t Hek also faced medical setbacks on November 4 last year. Then he had to stop a performance early because he became unwell. The comedian is said to have interrupted the show for five minutes and walked off the stage before being hospitalized. A few days later it was announced that he was allowed to return home.

At the end of December 2015, Van ‘t Hek underwent major heart surgery. He resumed his performances during 2016.

The coronavirus in short

  • The coronavirus mainly spreads through sneezes and cough drops. The virus can be transmitted directly from person to person or (for a limited time) through surfaces such as door handles.
  • You can considerably reduce the chance of spreading by keeping at least 1.5 meters away from others.
  • An infected person infects two to three others on average. Precautions are necessary to contain this
  • The vast majority of patients have mild (flu-like) complaints.
  • Almost all deaths involve the elderly or other vulnerable persons, such as heart, lung or diabetes patients. If everyone complies with the measures, this reduces their risks.
