Fabien Verdier’s list wins Châteaudun town hall

“Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm. Fabien Verdier (DVG) endorsed this quote from Winston Churchill this Sunday evening June 28, 2020. The head of the list of Châteaudun 2020, who had been in opposition since 2014, won the town hall with 51.21% of the vote and caused the city to be turned over to the left, 37 years after the defeat of the communist mayor Jean Hardy (1977- 1983).

743 more votes than in the first round

Arriving in the lead in the first round of the municipal elections with 35.43% of the vote, Fabien Verdier still benefited from this positive dynamic when the suspense was whole.

It again came out on top in ten offices out of eleven and managed to garner 743 additional votes, in a ballot marked by an increase in participation (51.50% against 46.84% in the first round).

“It is a beautiful moment that we are living this evening. It is the victory of renewal and a new era opens after almost seven years of work, ”commented Fabien Verdier, to the applause.

After saluting his “beautiful team”, the 39-year-old candidate had “a strong thought” for his two opponents, Jérôme Philippot (DVD) and Christophe Seigneuret (SE), who came in 2nd (28.97%) and 3rd (19.92%), and applauded the outgoing mayor (DVD) Alain Venot, a little embarrassed by this attitude, however republican.

Fabien Verdier, who obtains 25 seats on the Châteaudun Municipal Council and 14 seats on the Grand Châteaudun Community Council, is aware that “the difficulties are starting” and he has reached out “to everyone to redress the territory affected by the health and financial crisis and economical ”.

The merge on the right “did not work”

Jérôme Philippot and Christophe Seigneuret, who will respectively have 5 and 3 seats on the Châteaudun City Council and 3 and 1 seats on the Grand Châteaudun Community Council, have already said they are ready to help. “We are here for the city and not against the city,” said Jérôme Philippot, who did not hide his disappointment.

“We had a solid program, but the voters did not join and my professional activities did not allow to carry out the same field campaign as Fabien”.

He also recognizes that his merger with the list of Philippe Duprieu, assistant to the outgoing mayor, ranked fourth in the first round (18.20%), “did not work”. Its Ensemble revitalized list Châteaudun obtained “only” 367 additional votes compared to the first round.

A new “free and independent” candidate of around 20%

Christophe Seigneuret, the new “free and independent” candidate, who had created the surprise by taking third place in the first round (20.53%), intended to do well, but he only collected 48 additional votes compared to the first round.

“The disappointed members of the Jérôme Philippot-Philippe Duprieu alliance chose the candidate who was best placed in the first round, but we cannot be ashamed of our score. Nobody saw us at nearly 20%. “

He congratulated Fabien Verdier on his “clean and smudge-free” victory and offered to help. “He ran a respectful campaign, unlike Jérôme Philippot, and I wish him success.
