The Coronavirus, Sweden | Infection record in Sweden

Infection rates in Sweden are skyrocketing.

Last week, 9,094 new cases of the coronavirus were detected in Sweden. That’s the highest number so far during the pandemic, figures show WHO.

It was Danish TV 2 who first mentioned the case.

In total, the country has now registered 65,137 infected people. Two weeks ago, state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell stated that Sweden was over the top.

– It is completely wrong that we have not reached the top. We have reached the top. When we test more, we get more cases of infection, Tegnell said of the infection figures, which has thus recently shown an increase.

Worldwide, the rates of infection are also rising:

Last week, Tegnell said that the authorities in Sweden had pointed to the risk and offered advice at the start of the corona outbreak, but at the same time acknowledged that they had not managed to reach his message well enough:

“Of course I wish we had been even clearer and reached even better,” he told Swedish Radio’s summer program “Summer in P1”.

– We probably thought that our age-segregated society would allow us to avoid a situation like in Italy, where different generations more often live together. But that turned out to be wrong. The death toll increased dramatically, Tegnell said in the program.

So far, 5,280 people have died in Sweden with the coronavirus.
